An early "photoshop" I did, back when I was into that kind of thing (found going through old stored files). Person in the picture will recognize herself methinks.

Buzz,Buzz,Buzz Goes The Plane...

Arial spraying for mosquitoes has apparently started. Low flying plane has buzzed over the house several times this evening in the past couple of hours. Either that, or we are under attack!

Another Autographed Item

My autographed "Why and When The Dick Van Dyke Show Was Born" book arrived in the mail this morning...

I now have autographs from Carl Reiner, Kathy Garver(her previous book), Dick DeBartolo(an original "Match Game" card and a photo), and Marcia Ball(a CD). Also have a "Doonesbury" poster signed by Garry Trudeau in 2005 I won in a GoComics contest, but since it wasn't signed explicitly for ME, not sure I can count that as an "autograph".

Rescheduled Appointment

Ugh. University Health just called regarding my Friday appointment in Shreveport with ear/nose/throat. They said, due to the stuff happening in south Louisiana, they were going to have to reschedule me. They didn't give me a new date on the phone, they said they would be mailing me a new appointment date.

However, I AM able to eat more solid foods since I stopped taking the lisinopril medicine, so apparently that WAS causing my swallowing issues. Bad thing, it took ME doing online research to figure it out, not the doctors at University Health!

With the flooding up here in the north part of Louisiana in March, now the flooding in south Louisiana now, I keep thinking of this...

Another Random Memory

I wanted to learn clarinet in junior high school, but dropped out of band class when dad balked at the rental fees on the instrument. Even then, I was a huge Benny Goodman fan. I now know NO instrument as a result.

Geeky Things

After installing the Windows 10 Anniversary update, figured I'd try the Edge browser again to see if it got any better. Nope. Still a slow loading, sluggish piece of shiat. Immediately went back to Firefox.

Another "Mission Accomplished"

Yesterday was the official release of the Windows 10 "Anniversary Update". As of late yesterday evening, it still wasn't showing up in Windows Update, on either the desktop or the laptop. I decided to just go to Microsoft's website and GET the darn thing. Installed fine on the laptop, but I couldn't get the aspect ratio on my desktop monitor the way it should be. After phutzing around with it SEVERAL hours, I found the issue. Had to go to AMD's website and download drivers for Windows 8.1 for the Radeon graphics card. After installing the driver, I rebooted, selected the proper driver in the Device Manager, and all was well again!

The Good and the Bad...

Good: Swallowing issue seems to be clearing up, since I stopped taking the Lisinopril prescription a couple weeks ago.

Good: University Health FINALLY sent my ear/nose/throat specialist appointment after nearly 7 weeks.

Bad: Appointment is at the University Health in FREGGIN' SHREVEPORT on August 19th at 7:30am in the morning! I know NOTHING about Shreveport! Means I'll have to leave WAY early, before daylight, to find the freggin' place! Why the fuck can't they have a specialist at the MONROE hospital?!?

Space Oddity? Try Louisiana Oddity!

Yes, I'm an "oddity", considering I was born and raised in Louisiana. I'm nervous around guns(even if I know they aren't loaded), I don't like fishing or hunting, don't care much for most seafood, and am an atheist. Guess I might be considered more in the "geek" category.

My Yawning Life

"Exciting" news of the day. Halogen bulb poofed out in the outdoor motion sensor light last night, after several years. Son picked up a new one today.

Leaks Again

Ugh. Looks like yet ANOTHER water leak under the house, in the same area as the previous few. Noticed the water standing after receiving a rather large water bill this morning. Got a call out to the plumber, should be out sometime today. :-(

UPDATE(11:55am): Plumber just left. Standing water under the house is apparently from rain, not a leak. He had to remove a layer of dirt from the water meter to see if the meter was moving, which it wasn't. He said even if there had been a slow leak, the meter would have moved a bit.

Since the meter was covered in dirt, plumber was fairly certain it hadn't been read lately. So, apparently, the meter reader isn't reading meters, and Greater Ouachita Water Company is pulling figures out of their ass. Plumber said NO WAY could three people in a household use 11,000 gallons of water in a month (the amount listed on the bill).

Plumber put all his findings, including the dirty meter, on the invoice. There was no charge for what he did today.

Mysteries of the Son

Andrew said he was off work today(was originally scheduled), Walmart was cutting hours. He left the house earlier this morning however, said he had "something to do", yet didn't tell me or mom where he was going or what he had to do.

Some Days Worse Than Others

Wish University Health Conway would freggin' hurry and get me the appointment with the ear/nose/throat specialist. Was attempting to drink some buttermilk this afternoon, the throat hanging/gagging hit me with a vengeance. Gagged up some thick brown liquid, after having the feeling my eyes were going to pop out of their sockets. Face all red and splotchy AGAIN as a result. At least I can swallow the buttermilk now without issue.

The Heat Is On...

Just finished mowing the yard, and all I can say is "DAMN, IT'S HOT OUT THERE!!!".

Jul. 2nd, 2016

While waiting for the "elusive" ear/nose/throat appointment from slow ass University Health Conway, I've been doing online research regarding my food swallowing issue. More than one website, including the Mayo Clinic, listed as a possible side effect of BOTH medications I'm taking for blood pressure as "vocal cord swelling". Thinking back, it seems this swallowing issue started when the hypertension doctor upped my main med from 10mg tablets to 20mg tablets, changed dosage from one a day to two a day, and added the other med, which is a diuretic.

Therefore, after my research, I'm thinking it might not have anything to do with ear/nose/throat. It might be the damned prescriptions causing my issue. So, against my better judgement, I'm going to stop taking those medicines for a few days, and see if anything changes.

I've got to do SOMETHING. This soup and liquid diet is making me lose weight AND strength, and according to the person I talked to on the phone there the other day, it might be another freggin' MONTH before I get an appointment!

Jun. 30th, 2016

Ruined By Microsoft?

Not that I use Skype a lot (only one person on my list), but it seems buggier with each new update. The last few updates it freezes upon starting the program, and I have to force kill the process and restart/repeat at least three times before it will run properly.

Soup For ANOTHER Month??

When I went to the "University Health Conway" walk-in clinic for the second time about my problems with swallowing solid foods, they set up a referral to "Ear/Nose/Throat". This was on June 6th. They said my appointment would be mailed. Only thing I've gotten in the mail from them so far was a survey questionnaire earlier this month concerning the FIRST visit.

Sooo, I call them this morning after the mail ran, since the appointment STILL wan't in the mailbox. It was THEN that they tell me a "referral" has to be sent to Shreveport to either be "approved" or "turned down", and the process can take from six to eight weeks to be completed. I mean, WHAT THE FUCK?!? In the meantime, I'm losing weight AND strength, because all I can eat without getting the hanging/gagging feeling in my throat is SOUP... the "heaviest" soups being creamy or noodle soups... "chunky" soup is out of the question!

I'll swear, since that jackass Jindal let "University Health" start managing the hospitals, the service has gone to hell in a handbasket! Should have kept the LSU system in charge of running them! I'm going to be a weak wreck by the time when/if I get to see the specialist!

Guess It Had To Happen Eventually

Mom just returned home from taking her cat Booger to the vet about his limp. They x-rayed, and found a large tumor in the upper portion of the leg. Apparently it was fast growing, since it wasn't noticed a few months ago when he was taken in to get the mats out of his long hair.

They said the only treatments would have been to either remove the leg, or give him medications, which would only give him maybe two or three more months at the most. Mom decided, given his age (nearly 20), and she didn't want him to suffer any longer than he had to, to go ahead and put him to sleep.

We are all going to miss that little fellow. :-(

Almost Look Like I Have Measles...

Ugh. Mid-way through trying to eat a frozen dinner, the food hanging in throat/gagging hit me with a force! Felt like a lung was about to come up. Face now all splotchy. Wish the people at University Health Conway would HURRY and mail my appointment with the ear/nose/throat department! Been three weeks already! :-(

Limping Booger

Mom's cat Booger has had a serious limp for a few weeks, seems to be from his left back leg. I think she has decided to call the vet to get him an appointment this coming week to see if something can be done. He is nearly 20 years old. Still eats, drinks, and has regular "movements" in the litter box, but doesn't walk around like he used to.

While out today picking up some laundry detergent and various soups (due to my ongoing food swallowing issues), I also couldn't resist picking THIS up. I know what I'll be watching at least PART of this evening...

Getting Impatient... and HUNGRY...

Three weeks later, STILL waiting for the ear/nose/throat appointment from University Health Conway. STILL having to eat light soups because it's the only thing I can swallow without gagging up. Not feeling very vibrant as a result. If I haven't heard anything by the middle of next week, I'll probably return to the walk-in clinic again, even though they are the ones supposedly getting me the appointment with the ENT. All I know is SOMETHING needs to be done! :-(

I predict Andrew will be tired when he gets home from work this afternoon. He worked until 10pm last night, had to be back to work at 6am this morning.

Suit and Tie?

This question appeared on "TotalFark.com" this afternoon, " So, why exactly are suits and ties still required for so many things?"

Guess I've never been involved in the "so many things" asked about. Don't even OWN a suit or tie. Never even learned how to TIE a tie! If invited to something requiring a suit and tie, I respectfully decline the invite.

Hard to Swallow

It's gotten to the point I can't even swallow condensed soup without gagging up. Since I still haven't received the appointment from the University Health Conway ear, nose, throat specialist, I just returned from their emergency room. They took four vials of blood and did a CT scan of my throat.

Good news is... they didn't find any tumors or growths in my throat. Bad news, the ER doctor was stumped as to WHY I'm having trouble swallowing. He said if I haven't gotten the ENT appointment in the mail by the end of the week, to return to the walk-in clinic to see that doctor again (the one who is referring me to the ENT). I've already been feeling weak from not being able to eat anything even HALF-WAY solid, but guess I'll be on a basically "liquid diet" a while longer... seems I don't really have a choice while I'm waiting. I can swallow water, juices, shakes, etc, fine. Not very "filling" though.

The "instruction sheet" they gave me at discharge this evening describes a condition called "dysphagia". The symptoms on the sheet pretty much sum up all the symptoms I'm having.

I just want to eat solid foods again! :-(

Jun. 13th, 2016

Fark the Meds For Now

Gonna lay off the latest antibiotics prescribed last Monday at the walk-in clinic for the throat swallowing issues. Seems to be getting worse instead of better. Took over two hours to get a bowl of soup down earlier today. Hope to get my appointment soon with the University Health Conway ENT. Can't eat much without gagging back up. Losing weight (might be the only GOOD thing though)

Jun. 11th, 2016

"Lower Prices" my Aunt Fanny!

Mom picked me up a 4-pk of Schick Hydro5 cartridges from Walmart recenrly, paid $16.84. Family Dollar sells the SAME blades for $12.50. So much for Walmart's claim of being the "low priced leader".

Jun. 10th, 2016

Wish Conway Hospital would HURRY and mail me my appointment date with the ear, nose, and throat specialist. This not being able to swallow a lot of solid foods (SOME do fine if eaten in SMALL bites) is starting to get "old", especially since I'm starting to lose some weight and feel weak most of the day. The antibiotics the walk-in clinic doctor prescribed Monday seem to be having no effect. :-(
